Within the scope of the project titled “Community-Based Tourism through the Promotion of Heritage Sites for Poverty Alleviation” implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Mozambique, a training program and a workshop have been conducted on 3-9 September 2018 in Mozambique. The training program, which focused on developing new tourism routes for the historical and cultural heritage sites and offering quality products by the local people in the relevant regions, was attended by a total of 32 participants from Mozambique, Gambia, Malaysia, Sudan, and Uganda. Moreover, a total of 40 people from the partner countries, including government officials, tour operators and the local community, came together in an international workshop. Participants of the workshop found an opportunity to discuss their countries’ potential for community-based tourism, best practices and ways of benefitting from the cultural heritage sites.
