SMIIC conducted the “OIC/SMIIC 1 Halal Foundation Training for Africa Region” on the  27-29 July 2021 in Senegal within the framework of the project titled “OIC/SMIIC Halal Foundation Training for Africa Region”  funded under the COMCEC Project Funding.

The objective of this training program was to encourage the harmonization of Halal Standards used in the OIC and internationally by aiding in the adoption and use of the OIC/SMIIC Halal Standards. The program aimed to inform the representatives from SMIIC/OIC Member States regarding the procedures for adoption, implementation and use of the OIC/SMIIC series of 3 Halal Food Standards whilst providing foundation training in SMIIC Information System (IS), Technical Committee (TC) work and auditing. Working language of the training was French.

32 delegates from Benin, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Senegal and Tunisia attended the training that was held in hybrid format both virtually and physically. The meeting was technically hosted by the SMIIC General Secretariat and physically by the Association Sénégalaise de Normalisation (ASN).
